Terms and Conditions for Driving lessons
By booking a driving lesson, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Cancellations & Rescheduling
We understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson, please provide as much notice as possible.
Cancellation charges are as follows:
48 business hours' notice or more: No charge.
Less than 48 business hours but more than 24 business hours' notice: 50% of the lesson fee.
Less than 24 business hours' notice: 100% of the lesson fee.
For the purposes of this cancellation policy, business hours are calculated Monday to Friday only. Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays do not count towards the notice period.
For example, a cancellation made on Saturday or Sunday for a lesson on Monday will be treated as less than 24 business hours' notice and the full lesson fee will be payable.
Where a cancellation charge is due, this must be paid before any further lessons can take place.
2. Missed Lessons / No-Shows
If you do not attend a booked lesson and have not cancelled beforehand, the full lesson fee will be charged.
The instructor will wait for up to 15 minutes at the agreed collection point. If you have not arrived or made contact within this time, the lesson may be treated as a no-show and the full lesson fee will remain payable.
3. Late Arrival
We always aim to arrive at the agreed lesson time. However, due to the nature of driving instruction, traffic and delays with previous lessons can occasionally mean that the instructor arrives late.
The instructor may arrive up to 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. If this happens, you will not lose any lesson time — any time lost due to the instructor's late arrival will be added to the end of your lesson wherever possible, or otherwise made up by agreement.
If you are late for your lesson, your lesson will still finish at the originally scheduled time. Any time lost as a result of your late arrival will be deducted from your lesson time and will not be added to the end of the lesson.
The full lesson fee remains payable where a pupil arrives late.
If the instructor has not arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time and has not contacted you, please contact the instructor.
4. Instructor Cancellations
Occasionally, a lesson may need to be cancelled or rearranged by the instructor due to illness, vehicle problems, severe weather, road conditions or other circumstances outside their reasonable control.
Where this happens, the lesson will be rearranged at no additional cost. Any prepaid fee for that lesson will be transferred to the rearranged lesson or refunded if appropriate.
The instructor will not be responsible for additional expenses or losses resulting from a lesson being cancelled due to circumstances outside their reasonable control.
5. Fitness to Drive
You must be fit and legally able to drive at the time of your lesson.
You must inform the instructor of any medical condition, change in health, medication or other circumstance that may affect your ability to drive safely or your legal entitlement to drive.
Lessons will not go ahead if the instructor reasonably believes you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or otherwise unfit to drive safely. In these circumstances, the lesson may be cancelled and the full lesson fee will be payable.
6. Driving Licence
You must hold a valid provisional or full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle being driven and meet all legal requirements for learning to drive.
You must inform the instructor immediately if your licence is revoked, suspended, expired or otherwise becomes invalid.
7. Lesson Payments
Lesson fees must be paid by the agreed payment method and within the agreed timeframe.
Any outstanding lesson fees or cancellation charges must be settled before further lessons are booked or undertaken.
8. Driving Tests
When booking a practical driving test, pupils should use the instructor's ADI number when searching for and booking a test date. This helps to ensure that a test is not booked at a time when the instructor is already committed to another pupil or driving test.
Your instructor will provide their ADI number when you are ready to begin looking for a suitable test date.
Pupils are strongly encouraged to discuss potential test dates with their instructor before confirming a booking, even when the ADI number has been used.
Booking a practical driving test does not automatically guarantee that the instructor's vehicle will be available for the test.
The instructor reserves the right to decline the use of their vehicle for a driving test if, in their professional judgement, the pupil is not sufficiently prepared to drive safely and independently, or if the vehicle cannot reasonably be made available.
If a pupil books a test without using the instructor's ADI number or without checking availability with the instructor, the instructor cannot guarantee that they or their vehicle will be available for that test.
9. Safety During Lessons
The instructor has a responsibility for the safety of the pupil, themselves and other road users.
The instructor may end a lesson if a pupil repeatedly refuses to follow reasonable safety instructions or behaves in a way that makes continuing the lesson unsafe.
Depending on the circumstances, the lesson fee may remain payable.
10. Acceptance of These Terms
By booking or attending a driving lesson, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
These terms are intended to ensure lessons can be offered fairly and reliably to all pupils.
